Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

What if I don’t have enough documents to fill up three boxes?  Give a box and a label to your brother, or your mother, or your neighbor.  Or clean up some files from your desk at work.  Or buy a locking lid and use it as a personal shredder, to collect the credit card offers that come in the mail.

Can I use Treemaxx on a daily basis for the credit card offers that come in the mail?  Yes.  We recommend you purchase a locking lid.  This slotted lid snaps onto an open Treemaxx container, making an excellent replacement for personal shredders which break, cannot handle paper clips, and are not environmentally friendly, since the paper is usually not recycled.

If I want to use Treemaxx to replace my personal shredder, can the lid be locked?  Yes, the lid and container can be locked.  We recommend MaxxLock, a keyed security bar which when installed makes the entire system unmovable.

What kind of paper should I put into Treemaxx?  Any kind of paper can be put into Treemaxx, but if you have access to city-sponsored recycling bins, use those for newspapers and cardboard.  Since all paper received by Treemaxx is shredded, consider using the system to securely destroy documents which may contain personal confidential information.

Do I have to remove staples and paper clips?  No, our high volume shredders can handle them.

What about plastic, such as CDs or Tyvek envelopes?  Please use Treemaxx for paper only, as plastic will contaminate the shredded paper during the recycling process.

Is Treemaxx suitable for business shredding? The short answer is yes, but the identity theft prevention laws (FACTA, HIPAA) have some specific compliance measurement regulations which must be met.  Treemaxx is ideal for home-based and small business, but for large, geographically dispersed businesses who need to prove compliance, we offer MaxxafeSystem.com .
